My name is Tonya. I am a single mother of three wonderful children and come from a bi-racial family. On August 30, 2006 the life of my family dramatically changed forever. My youngest, Knoah was born November 15, 2006. He was diagnosed with Achondroplasia (the most common form of dwarfism) at birth. In the months following Knoah's birth, life flipped upside down and we began to live a new normal. A life of doctors appointments, surgeries, laughter and tears. Today, Knoah, 7, along with his 15 year old brother, Jacob and 13 year old sister, Hannah, live their lives like any other siblings. They play, they fight, they yell and even hit each other. They are also grounded like any other children. I have not raised Knoah to use his Achondroplasia as an excuse. Actually, he's learned to use it to his advantage and is very quick to point out things he can do that other children can't, like touching his foot to his forehead. Or bending over at the waist and touching his head to the floor. Discoveries he's very proud of...and, having him in our family, well, that's a blessing!
